MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Memphis Police Department(MPD) said an abduction victim was rescued and they have a person in custody after a car chase that led to a crash.
Just before 6:00 p.m. on Friday, July 19, 2024, officers spotted a car that had been used in a kidnapping, with the victim inside the car.
MPD says police attempted to pull the car over near Mt. Moriah and I-240, but the driver refused to stop.
Officers began pursuit and chased the car until the driver crashed near Sharpe Avenue. The suspect got out of the car and fled but police caught up and arrested him.
According to MPD, the victim was treated by the Memphis Fire Department at the scene.
