The Memphis Police Department is receiving nearly $2 million to help crime fighting efforts.
Tennessee Congressman Steve Cohen announced he secured $1,926,600 in community project funding this year through the appropriations process. The funds will be used for additional upgraded crime surveillance equipment and resources to improve Memphis Police officers' safety.
Cohen will hold a press conference Tuesday, March 26, at 12:30 p.m. to highlight the announcement. Mayor Paul Young and Interim Police Chief Cerelyn “C.J.” Davis will also talk about crime-fighting initiatives.
The meeting will occur at Memphis City Hall.
