MPD's Organized Crime Unit makes 3 felony arrests, 12 more arrested in connection to hotel closure on Lamar Ave.

The Memphis Police Department's (MPD) Organized Crime Unit (OCU) carried out a nuisance closure at a hotel on Lamar Ave., leading to several felony and misdemeanor arrests.

MPD said officers with the Organized Crime Unit (OCU) closed the Economy Hotel at 3896 Lamar Ave. about 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 22, 2024.

The court issued a temporary injunction against the hotel on Thursday, Nov. 21, temporarily closing it and declaring it a public nuisance.

Before the closure, OCU teams executed a search warrant at the hotel, resulting in three felony arrests and the arrest of 12 more individuals. Police say detectives seized 1.7 grams of Fentanyl, 1.2 grams of Methamphetamine, and one car.

According to MPD, detectives recovered 46.5 grams of powder cocaine, 806 grams of crack cocaine, 18.8 grams of meth, 25.3 grams of marijuana, 4.1 grams of fentanyl, 135 ecstasy pills.

Police made three felony arrests, including Skankeyia Keith, Kevin Grandberry, and Radricus Stone.

Skankeyia Keith, 43, was arrested on warrants for possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with intent to manufacture/deliver/sell, and theft of property $1,000-$2,500.

Kevin Grandberry, 46, was charged with convicted felon in possession of a handgun, possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony, 3 counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to wit: meth, cocaine and ecstasy, possession of a controlled substance with intent to manufacture/deliver/sell, possession of a controlled substance with intent to wit: marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond has been set at $175,000.00.

Radricus Stone, 30, was charged with convicted felon in possession of a handgun, possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony, two counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to wit: meth and ecstasy, possession of a controlled substance with intent to manufacture/deliver/sell, theft of firearm, and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $175,000.00.
