Memphis nonprofit gives seniors free access to legal services

Memphis Area Legal Services hosted its 14th annual 'Give a Little, Help a Lot' clinic addressing healthcare law, estate planning and other legal matters.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Area Legal Services Inc. hosted its 14th Annual “Give a Little, Help a Lot” clinic to provide senior citizens with free legal services in Memphis. 

The event took place Wednesday morning at the Orange Mound Community Center. 

MALS is a nonprofit law firm that gives civil legal assistance to low income and elderly people in Shelby, Fayette, Tipton and Lauderdale Counties.

It partnered with Bass, Berry and Sims PLC and AutoZone’s legal department to provide power of attorneys, wills and other advanced care documents. 

“These are just critical services to people... To be able to provide them free of charge,  just lifts one more burden that someone doesn’t have to worry about when I pass away, will my wishes be honored,” said Memphis Area Legal Services Inc. CEO Nicole Grida.
