MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis-Shelby County Schools (MSCS) announced all district schools and offices will be open Friday after they closed early Thursday, Sept. 12 due to effects from the remnants of Tropical Storm Francine.

"Memphis-Shelby County Schools (MSCS) will resume classes on Friday, September 13, 2024. All District schools and offices will be open," said the announcement from MSCS.

Hurricane Francine made landfall Wednesday in Louisiana as a category 2 hurricane, bringing high wind, heavy rain, and storm surge to coastal areas.

Francine is now moving further inland, bringing impacts to Memphis and the Mid-South on Friday as the storm continues to weaken.
