MEMPHIS, Tenn — For those in the Bluff City feeling a little spooky already, there are a few ways to get into the Halloween spirit the weekend of Friday the 13th.
Whether bringing the young ones around (or not), here are some spine-chilling activities and events to attend at your own risk:
Get scared at 'Zoo Boo'
"Zoo Boo" starts Friday night — kids can wear their costumes and bring bags for trick-or-treating at the Memphis Zoo. Attendees can also light up their very own monster at the "Monster Creation Studio."
Sponsored by Le Bonheur, the event takes place from 6 p.m. until 9:30 on select nights at the Memphis Zoo leading up to (and during) Halloween. Halloween attire is not required but encouraged at the "Boo."
Get your drink on at 'Crosstoberfest'
Those looking to get in the fall mood can do so at Crosstown Brewing Company's Octoberfest-themed event, "Crosstoberfest."
It starts at noon on Saturday with music, a cornhole contest, a stein-holding contest and — you guessed it — plenty of beer. Please drink (and scare) responsibly.
Get some new threads at 'Monster Market'
If you're in need of a Halloween-themed wardrobe, you can shop for some spooky stuff at "Monster Market" — a local pop-up shop dating back to 2017.
Artist Lauren Holtermann hosts the temporary market for art, furniture and apparel every year. It opens downtown Friday night at the Medicine Factory on Virginia Avenue and runs through Wednesday, Oct. 18.
