Trash/garbage pickup in the Memphis area is being further delayed during the Winter weather, according to city waste management officials.

A scheduled one-day delay was already in place due to the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday Monday, Jan. 15. As of Thursday, the city said service will resume on a normal schedule starting Monday, Jan. 22.

Officials said due to the heavy volume, there may still be delays through Jan. 27. All customers are asked to leave garbage bins and recycle bins at curbs until collected.

"The City of Memphis Solid Waste Division regrets any inconvenience customers may experience and appreciates your patience," the division said in a statement. "Every effort is being made to restore services as soon as possible."

Those who wish to receive information regarding their collection schedule and to receive notification of service changes, can download the "City of Memphis Curbside Collection" app, available from the Apple App and Google Play online stores.
