2024 is a leap year, and Mid-South hospitals are celebrating new arrivals on this rare day.
A baby boy was born at Saint Francis Hospital-Memphis at 3:56 a.m. Nurses said they celebrated his Leap Day arrival with special photos, and he posed for one in a frog hat.
A representative of Methodist Le Bonheur said at least nine babies in total were born at their locations on Leap Day.
One of them was Lynlee Carr, who was born at Methodist Olive Branch Hospital just after midnight at 12:27 a.m.
Skylah Pruitt and Justin Blocker of Memphis, Tennessee, welcomed Cataleya Rose Blocker at Methodist Germantown at 5:46 a.m. She weighs 7 lbs. and 1 oz., and she is 19 inches long.
According to Lamaze International, there is around a one in 1,461 chance of having a baby on Leap Day.
