Japanese music, food, and culture were on full display at the Memphis Botanic Garden Sunday.
The Japanese Festival offered garden tours, live music, martial arts demonstrations, and workshops.
The Botanic Garden also offered half price admission and complimentary green tea to early visitors.
Event organizers said the Japanese inspired food from local food trucks was more important than you would think.
“There are a lot of Japanese companies located in this area, and I know we’d like more to come and so we think it’s great for everybody to learn about Japan and appreciate how important Japan is to Memphis and the whole state of Tennessee,” said Festival Director Ginger Byrn.
More than 5,000 people were expected at the festival.
New Memphis Grizzlies forward Yuta Watanabe attended the festival as a special guest.
