MILLINGTON, Tenn. — A bedridden woman was saved by three deputies with the Shelby County Sheriff's Office (SCSO) at a house fire in Millington on Sunday, Nov. 17.
Deputies responded to a call about a house fire at the 5700 block of Port Haven Drive at around 1:30 a.m.
Upon arrival, they were told a bedridden woman was inside the home and unable to escape, according to SCSO. Officials say they got to the scene before Shelby County Fire.
Three deputies on scene entered the home, where they found the woman and carried her out safely. SCSO said both the woman and the deputies suffered from smoke inhalation while inside.
Shelby County Fire later arrived and put out the fire in the kitchen before it spread to other parts of the home.
The woman and three sheriff's deputies were taken to Methodist North Hospital in non-critical condition. The deputies were treated and released from the hospital, according to officials.
