Shelby County Community Services Agency offers in person assistance to MLGW customers

CSA representatives provided financial assistance to MLGW customers on Saturday, Aug. 17.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Shelby County Community Services Agency (CSA) representatives were offering help at Memphis Light, Gas and Water's downtown community office for the second time this year.

MLGW bills have been skyrocketing this summer with some Memphians seeing their bills reach the thousands.

To help address the problem CSA representatives offered customer assistance at MLGW's downtown community office from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. today on Saturday, Aug. 17, 2024.

MLGW says they exceeded their goal of helping 200 customers fill out Low Income Housing Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) applications.

The level of help customers received varied depending on each case.

In addition to financial assistance, CSA and MLGW provided energy efficient light bulbs and solar powered hand-crank radios to participating customers.

MLGW says customers that were not able to attend can apply for LIHEAP at http://shelbycountycsa.org or mail the application to CSA to 1188 Minna Place, Memphis, TN 38104.
