MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis, Light, Gas and Water (MLGW) gave customers an update Monday, March 25, regarding their delayed billing issues.

Vice President of Corporate Communications Ursula Madden said MLGW is working to obtain a permanent solution for those experiencing delayed billing because of malfunctioning meters that do not correctly measure usage.

Madden said customers will continue to receive conservative estimates based on their past usage. When MLGW gets an accurate meter reading, it will notify customers by mail.

Once a solution to the problem is discovered, accounts will be treated like a new connection — meaning if a bill was underestimated, MLGW will not collect the difference or back bill customers.
