If you thought high fashion could only be found in New York, Paris, or Milan, think again. Memphis Fashion Week is right around the corner, and if you want to be a model in the shows, auditions are this weekend!
This is the 7th year for Memphis Fashion Week and organizers always look for the event to be bigger and better than ever. Saturday, organizers are hosting model auditions at Wolfchase Galleria.
Memphis Fashion Week kicks off April 11th through the 14th, with runway shows at Graceland and Memphis College of Art. The annual event is a fundraiser for the Memphis Fashion Design Network.
Other big draws include a designer trunk show and luncheons, along with the series of runway shows.
It’s all part of an ongoing effort to celebrate local creative talent, by featuring emerging fashion designers, models, and local boutiques.
If you want strut the catwalk, here’s what you need to know:
Auditions will be held this Saturday, at 9:00 a.m. at Wolfchase Mall.
Male and female models are needed for the multi-day event.
The desired height for female models is at least 5’7″.
Male models should be 5’10” or taller.
Organizers are also looking for female models, both curvy and slim. Sizes range from 0-4 and 10-14.
“This year we are also looking for curvy models, which is sizes 10 to 14 as well, which we are so excited about. We did have an emerging designer last year show a curvy line. We have even more opportunities this year,” says Abby Phillips/Director of Memphis Fashion Week.
Models should come to the audition wearing form-fitting jeans, a fitted white shirt, heels and a fresh face.
Don’t forget to bring a photo to leave at the audition.
Prior modeling experience is a plus, but not a requirement.
