A man was detained by Memphis Police after a robbery reportedly took place at a Walgreens on Kirby Road.
Officers said the vehicle used in the chase was also stolen. They said they responded Friday night, Feb. 23, toward 10 p.m. to 2891 Kirby Road. They said they were told a man wearing a black face-mask, white gloves, a black hoodie, a brown jacket, jeans and white shoes was armed with a handgun.
Police were told that this man demanded an employee open the cash register and then took cash before driving away in a silver sedan, according to the Memphis Police Department (MPD).
Minutes later, officers said they found this sedan in the area of Park Avenue and Primacy Parkway. The suspect refused to stop and a pursuit was authorized, according to MPD.
The suspect's vehicle stopped at 4116 Nipoma before he ran into the home, according to MPD. He was taken into custody without incident, according to MPD.
Booker was charged with aggravated assault, aggravated robbery, evading arrest in a motor vehicle, convicted felon in possession of a handgun, possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felon, theft of property between $10,000 and $60,000 and evading arrest, according to MPD.
He had two active warrants for theft of property between $1,000 and $2,500, they said. Booker's bond was set at $61,500 before he paid it and was released on Feb. 24, according to MPD.
Previously, he was arrested in 2019 for aggravated assault, aggravated robbery, failure to appear for booking/processing, theft of property of $1,000 or less and criminal impersonation, according to MPD.
In 2018, he was arrested for aggravated assault and aggravated robbery, police said.
