Memphis police say that a car crashed into fences near Sherwood Middle School on Friday night.

Officers said it started toward 6 p.m. when they say they saw a vehicle that had been carjacked in the area of Barron and Lamar. Officers said they tried to stop the vehicle by implementing a traffic stop, but the drivers of the vehicle refused.

A pursuit then took place that ended when the suspects struck fences near Sherwood Middle School, according to the Memphis Police Department (MPD).

Four suspects then bailed out of the vehicle, according to MPD. Two women are detained, but officers are searching for two men, according to MPD.

Memphis police urge the public to avoid the area so that they can locate these suspects. No injuries have been reported, according to MPD.

A similar incident took place at Osceola Middle School in October.

That school experienced damages "due to a car involved in a police chase ending in a car crash," the superintendent said.

"Your support during this time is greatly appreciated as we work together to maintain the school's vibrant community," superintendent Dr. Torian Green said at the time. "Thank you for your understanding and cooperation."
