Tennessee representatives denounce Nazi rally participants who marched through Downtown Nashville

"These groups once relegated to the dark corners now feel empowered to spew their noxious ideology out in the open," representative Aftyn Behn said in a post to X.

On Saturday, a large group of people hiding their faces but displaying swastika flags marched through Downtown Nashville as lawmakers in the area denounced the gathering via social media.

Representative Justin Jones, known widely from being apart of "The Tennessee Three" who were expelled and then reinstated into the Tennessee legislature last year, took to X (formerly Twitter) after seeing the crowd.

Jones said he had recently left an event that was honoring a Black sorority where he spoke of "the need to unite against the rising tide of white supremacy — only to be confronted by Nazis marching through Downtown Nashville."

"This is exactly what my Republican colleagues' hate speech is fostering and inviting," he said in the message.

Representative Aftyn Behn said that her office was "closely monitoring" the rally.

"These groups once relegated to the dark corners now feel empowered to spew their noxious ideology out in the open," she said in the post.

She said this is because of the state's leadership "refusing to condemn their speech and actions."
