MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Memphis woman has pleaded guilty to charges in a January 2020 crash that injured a Memphis Police Officer.
Cadarius Davis pleaded guilty to two counts of DUI with child accompaniment and one count of vehicular assault, according to the Shelby County District Attorney General’s Office.
Memphis Police said around midnight on Jan. 12, 2020, the officer was sitting in his squad car with blue lights on while blocking southbound traffic on McLean near Overton Park so MLGW could work on power lines that had been knocked down due to storm damage.
Investigators said Davis crashed into the officer’s car, trapping the officer inside. He was critically injured and in the hospital for 10 days with fractures to his pelvis and tailbone.
Investigators said Davis had been drinking and also had her small children, ages 2 and 3, in the back seat during the accident. They said Davis and her children were not injured, but the children were taken to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital for evaluation.
Davis served 45 days in jail after her arrest. After her guilty plea, she was sentenced to three years of “intensive probation,” according to the D.A.’s office, and could face more legal repercussions if she fails to comply with the terms of her condition.
