MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man is facing charges after an officer and wrecker driver were sent to the hospital after getting hit by a vehicle Wednesday on I-240.
The Memphis Police Department said the incident happened Dec. 27 at 1 a.m. at Lamar Avenue on I-240 northbound, where an officer and wrecker driver were working a crash scene when a vehicle hit them.
Both were taken to area hospitals in non-critical condition. According to police, the officer has been treated and released.
Later, police said 39-year-old Jimmy Drake was charged with failure to exercise due care, driving while license suspended/canceled/revoked, driving under the influence, public intoxication, reckless driving, and violation of seat belt law.
