MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is investigating a deadly officer-involved shooting in Frayser.
The man shot and killed has been identified by the TBI as 20-year-old Brandon Webber.
According to the TBI, the shooting happened about 7:00 p.m. Wednesday in the 2000 block of Durham “involving members of the Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force, US Marshal Service.”
The TBI says preliminary information indicates multiple officers with the U.S. Marshal Service located Webber, who was wanted on multiple warrants, at the home on Durham as he was getting into a vehicle. While trying to stop him, they say Webber rammed his vehicle into the vehicles of officers before getting out with a weapon. Investigators say that’s when the officers fired, hitting and killing Webber.
Around 8:00 p.m., the Memphis Police Department was asked by the US Marshal Service to help regarding the shooting, but no MPD officer was involved in the shooting itself.
Memphis Police say a total of 36 officers and Shelby County deputies suffered minor injuries from rocks and bottles thrown during the protests following the shooting. Several were taken to hospitals, and all have since been released. The protests died down before midnight as rain began to fall on the scene.
Police say three adults were arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. One of those three were also charged with inciting a riot.

The U.S. Marshals Service Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force was involved in an officer-involved shooting resulting in a fatality in the 2000 block of Durham Street in Memphis, Tennessee, at approximately 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 12. The Marshals were attempting to serve a warrant on a 20-year-old man with multiple felony warrants. In response to a threat posed by the subject, members of the task force fired their weapons, striking and killing him. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is the lead investigative agency for this incident. The U.S. Marshals Service will also conduct an internal review after the state completes its investigation. As a matter of policy, the U.S. Marshals Service will not release the names of deputy marshals involved in shooting incidents, until the conclusion of all investigations.
