The Alpha Phi Alpha chapter at the University of Mississippi is being disbanded following an investigation into hazing.
Mindy Sutton Noss, Assistant Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Dean of Students at the University of Mississippi, sent the following statement to Local 24:
“Members of the Nu Upsilon Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. were recently notified that the organization would be suspended and disbanded following investigations that uncovered acts of hazing. The national organization supports the university’s decision to suspend the chapter.
Hazing and related behavior that put student health and safety at risk are contrary to the University of Mississippi Creed and will not be tolerated.
Details on the hazing have not been released.
We have reached out to both the chapter and the national Alpha Phi Alpha organization and are awaiting comment.
