Olive Branch officer fired after Tennessee decertifies him following hearing over his resignation from Collierville Police

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A former Collierville and Olive Branch police officer can no longer work in law enforcement in Tennessee.

The state decertified Demario Pree Thursday, June 20, 2024. Hours later, Olive Branch Police announced he had been fired.

Records obtained by ABC24 show Pree resigned as a Collierville police officer in March 2024.

Disciplinary records show Pree claimed he initially left his Collierville police gun - which was later stolen - in a Hickory Hill Walmart bathroom on March 2nd, where he worked an off-duty security job.

The records said Pree first claimed he confused his CPD-assigned gun with another gun he owned that he used for off-duty work.

However, records by his charging officer show Pree bought a gun, the same make as his CPD-issued firearm, at a sports store hours after he lost the original gun. According to the CPD records, that gun he purchased after losing the other was the one Pree initially claimed he got mixed up earlier that day.

The report shows Collierville Police recommended Pree be fired, but he instead resigned March 7.
