Free haircuts and stylings being offered for Memphis community

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — For those in need of a little self-care, Memphis City Councilwoman Jana Swearengen-Washington is joining with the Tennessee College of Applied Technology and The Neighborhood Hero Group to provide free haircuts and hair styling.

They are hosting a series of events, where neighbors who may not have easy access to hair stylists can get free cuts and stylings.

The events will take place from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 30th, and Thursday, June 6th, at the Glenview Community Center. That’s at 1141 S. Barksdale Street.

Organizers said the goal is to promote confidence, self-esteem, and well-being among the community.

Boys and girls under the age of 18 will be given priority. They ask for girls' and ladies' hairstyles, please have hair washed before arriving.
