MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Girls Inc. of Memphis is celebrating the opening of a new community building in Frayser.
The new Patricia C. Howard center will serve as an administrative building, but also comes equipped with a community event center, workrooms for the girls, a fully stocked kitchen, a greenhouse, a farm, a celebration lawn and more.
For 78 years, the non-profit has been empowering and inspiring thousands of girls across the country to be strong, smart, and bold.
Saturday, Oct. 21, they'll open the gates to a 20,000 square foot building - an $8 million investment - which promises to be a hub for girls, families, and community members.
"Our girls need access to quality, and they need to be able to see possibilities,” said Sylvia Martinez, President/CEO of Girls Inc. Memphis. “If we can't get them to those possibilities, then we need to make them accessible to them.”
Programs will start as soon as next week, and once operating they'll be able to serve 120 young women in Frayser each day.
