MEMPHIS, Tenn. — As the holiday season approaches, so too does the season of giving.
The Pursuit of God Church in Frayser handed out more than 200 meals Friday for Memphis seniors in need.
The packages had several food items for a full meal, including items like fish and chicken and vegetables.
Dr. Telisa franklin, a community organizer, said she has noticed a real need for this resource.
“I do believe that there is such a food scare in our community and many of our vulnerable population, which is our seniors, they run a little short every month for food,” she said. “We have seniors here at 5 a.m. and we don't start until 11, so that tells us there is a need.”
She also said it's important the aging population in the Mid-South knows someone cares.
