MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The woman found dead in a wooded area in Shelby County has been identified as the mother of the suspect.
The Shelby County Sheriff's Office said 65-year-old Rochelle Hill was found dead in the woods behind a backyard fence of a home in the 7000 block of Peppermill Lane just after 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 20, 2024.
Investigators have not said what led to her death, but that she was the victim of a "domestic violence-related homicide."
Tevon Rose, 24, is charged with first-degree murder, abuse of a corpse, tampering with evidence and resisting official detention.
Court records show a mental evaluation was ordered during a hearing Oct. 22. The judge ordered him held without bond and he remains in the Shelby County Jail.
