MEMPHIS, Tenn. — What some have referred to as a Midtown Memphis staple has officially announced it will be shutting it's doors to make way for a new restaurant.

Rumors online that Vietnamese, Chinese and Vegetarian restaurant "Pho Binh" would be closing began circulating on Christmas Eve. The establishment posted the following message Dec. 24, 2023 as many in the comment section thanked them for over 23 years of service:

"We are so touched and emotional with the overwhelming turnout today. We have taken our last orders for the day. Thank you!

Much Love,
Pho Binh Family"

On Jan. 6, 2024 the restaurant posted a "farewell" to their "beloved Pho Binh extended family and friends" to their social media page. That message is as follows:

"It is with a heavy heart that we officially confirm the closure of Pho Binh restaurant. Momma will remain with the new owner to assist with perpetuating the restaurant and passing on the recipes for as long as her health allows.

We can attest that her will alone often overpowered her own health. We wish the new owner great success in their new venture.

It has been truly wonderful to have shared the 23+ years journey with our extended Pho Binh family. We celebrated, laughed, cried and made lifelong friends as three generations of our family grew up in the restaurant.

Many of you have watched the kinds doing homework at the corner table while helping momma bus tables. We all became a big extended family when you pushed plates to the middle, grabbed a new plate and sat yourself down for the buffet at the community table.

In turn, we witnessed many of you through years of school, college, getting engaged, getting married and bringing your children for meals at the restaurant. For us, you were all like relatives visiting for a family meal.

When many of you visited after moving away, we always enjoyed catching up with your life's stories and hearing your adventures. It was as if we were in step with each of you — out there exploring the world.

May this be only a pause in our shared journey. We will forever cherish the love and memories. Thank you for sharing this lifetime journey with us."
