MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A preliminary crash report released by the Tennessee Highway Patrol gives additional details into the car crash that claimed the life of a Memphis Police Department officer.

The Aug. 2 crash occurred at Danny Thomas and Mississippi Boulevard.

The MPD cruiser, described as vehicle 1, was traveling north on Danny Thomas before making a right hand turn onto Mississippi Boulevard when vehicle 2 veered left through the intersection and struck the driver's side center of the MPD car.

Both vehicles exited the roadway and came to a resting point.

The preliminary report claims that all three persons involved in the crash were not wearing seatbelts. MPD officer, and passenger in the cruiser, Demetrice Johnson died in the crash, as well as the driver of the other vehicle, Rantavious Johnson, who had allegedly been shot and was driving himself to a hospital.

MPD Officer Bobby Fields was the driver and transported to the hospital following the crash in critical condition.
