MEMPHIS, Tenn. — With Donald Trump elected the 47th president of the United States, local leaders in the Memphis area and Tennessee are weighing in. Here’s what they have to say.

Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee (R)

"Congratulations to President Trump on his decisive victory. There is no doubt our country will again be stronger with President Trump in office, and as a result, our children and grandchildren will enjoy greater opportunity, security and freedom.

President Trump will unify our country by strengthening the economy, securing our Nation's border and restoring safety in our communities."

I look forward to working with President Trump and Vice President Vance to ensure Tennessee's continued prosperity."

U.S. Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN)

"For four years Democrats tried to put Trump behind bars, take him off state ballots, and convince the American people he was a fascist dictator. The American people have spoken. They aren’t buying it."

Rep. David Kustoff (R-TN 8th District)

"Congratulations to @RealDonaldTrump on being elected the 47th President of the United States! I am looking forward to working together to Make America Great Again!"
