Protesters march against proposed Byhalia pipeline

The project's route will go through parts of Shelby, Desoto, and Marshall counties.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Protesters are making their voices heard over a proposed pipeline in the Mid-South.

They gathered at Slave Haven Tuesday, then marched to city hall to protest the Byhalia pipeline.

The project's route will go through parts of Shelby, Desoto, and Marshall counties. It would start at Memphis' Valero refinery and connect with the Capline Pipeline that connects oil from the Midwest to the Gulf Coast.

The Mid-South region is important to growing America's economy. The Byhalia Connection Pipeline - a crude oil pipeline system that will run nearly 49 miles from Memphis to Marshall County, Mississippi - will help strengthen the region's economic vitality and America's energy independence.
