MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Regional One Hospital employee volunteers packed more than 15,000 meals Wednesday for those in need.
Regional One said the meals were donated to a local food bank, providing food for families who lack access to adequate and healthy food options in the Mid-South.
"A lot of the students in Shelby county go to school and get a meal, and that's the only meal they'll get sometimes," said Lori Hunt, Regional One's director of communications. "During the summertime is when they experience the most hunger, so us packing these meals today, for our entire Regional One family, we know we're making our community a better place."
Regional One partnered with Meals of Hope to organize the food packing event. About 40 hospital employees volunteered for the event.
