MEMPHIS, Tenn. — On Thursday, a ceremony was held for the interior demolition of 100 North Main as renovations officially begin for the tallest building in Memphis.
The 37-story building has sat vacant for years, but now stands to get a 261-million-dollar investment.
"Today we celebrate collective investment, we celebrate shared vision, we celebrate shared commitments and we celebrate this unique opportunity for our downtown and our city that could forever impact the skyline and landscape of downtown Memphis," said developer Kevin Woods.
Plans for the building include a hotel, apartments, business offices, a parking garage and a return of the legendary spinning restaurant at the top.
There will be two phases to completing the building. Phase one's construction is estimated to start in 2024, with phase two starting in 2026.
