Safety Alert Issued By UofM Police After Armed Robbery Near Campus

A safety alert has been issued to faculty, students and staff at the University of Memphis after there was an armed robbery early Monday morning near the campus.

A safety alert has been issued to faculty, students and staff at the University of Memphis after there was an armed robbery early Monday morning near the campus.

According to UofM Police, an off-campus robbery was reported around 1:25 a.m. at Brister and Walker. A man reported that he was approached by three men with handguns who were demanding personal items.

The suspects left the scene going north on Highland from walker in a gray 4-door car with damage to its right front passenger side.

The suspects are described as African-American, 18-20 years-old, all are 5’11” – 6′, wearing baseball caps and dark clothing with their faces covered with bandanas.

The University Police Department and the Memphis Police Department are both investigating this incident.
