Owners of Serenity Towers fined again for ongoing water issues

In May, the City of Memphis filed a petition seeking to declare the buildings a chronic public nuisance.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The owners of Serenity Towers on Highland near the University of Memphis have been fined again for ongoing problems.

The City of Memphis confirmed to ABC24 that the towers owners, Millennia Housing Management, missed a deadline this week to fix their hot water. Thursday, June 6, 2024, the company was fined nearly $1,300.

This isn't the first time the company has been fined for their boiler issues. With this violation, the company has been fined more than $4,500 for not fixing the water.

The problems at Serenity Towers have been such an issue that in May, the city filed a petition seeking to declare the buildings a chronic public nuisance.

Those living at Serenity Towers have dealt with numerous problems, including a lack of air conditioning, malfunctioning elevators, and bed bugs.
