The city of Memphis has a juvenile crime problem, and city leaders are moving forward with plans of an alternative juvenile detention center.

Shelby county commissioners have reportedly approved a contract to operate "The Pursuit Center" at Memphis-Shelby County Juvenile Court as a place for first-time offenders with pending cases.

The contract reportedly includes transportation from school to the center and home — along with social services for their families.
