‘Community stakeholders’ undergo orientation for recertification for Shelby County Juvenile Court

The orientation was a way to make sure the organizations strategically align with the court's expectations.

SHELBY COUNTY, Tenn. — On Thursday, March 21, the Juvenile Court of Memphis and Shelby County met with dozens of community agencies to discuss how to maintain recertification to keep their stakeholder status as part of a yearly mandate.

The orientation was a way to make sure the organizations strategically align with the court's expectations, including accountability standards and reporting requirements.

One community leader said she was not aware so many kids in the Shelby County court system were in need.

"It's touching to know that we're going to be a part of trying to help," said Renee Millbrooks of Greater Faith Tabernacle Ministries.

Millbrooks said they typically assist seven to eight kids per year since the pandemic but will do a better job to increase their mentorship initiatives.
