A Shelby County Sheriff’s deputy is off the job, accused of raping a 14-year-old girl. 43-year-old Brian Beck is facing two counts of rape and two counts of sexual battery by an authority figure.
According to the indictment, the incidents occurred between May 2016 and January 1, 2018.
Beck lives in Germantown. Neighbors are shocked.
“People in authority are held to a higher standard,” said Tim Long, neighbor. “That’s the world we live in. It’s a very shameful world we live in. I do think he deserves his day in court.”
Beck was arraigned Thursday before Judge Lee Coffee in Criminal Court Division 7. He is being held a $90,000 bond.
Beck was not on duty when the alleged incidents occurred.
The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office tells Local 24 News that Beck was hired in 2004. He has been relieved of duty without pay. His case is under internal investigation, and the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office will not comment on the case because it is an active investigation.
