Shelby County Sheriff's Office arrest two young people in connection to 22 car break-ins

MEMPHIS, Tenn — Two young people were arrested by Shelby County authorities after they said 22 cars were broken into in one night.

The Shelby County Sheriff's Office (SCSO) said that this took place in the area of the Lakeland Town Square apartments on Friday, March 15. A 16-year-old and an 18-year-old were identified by authorities as the suspects after they were found occupying a stolen vehicle, according to the SCSO.

Jevon Jones is the 18-year-old the SCSO said was charged with 15 counts of burglary of a motor vehicle, theft of property between $10,000 and $60,000 and possession of burglary tools. 

The 16-year-old involved was charged with theft of property between $10,000 and $60,000, according to the SCSO. 

A 15-year-old person was present in the vehicle during the arrest and was transported on an active warrant out of Millington that was related to a stolen vehicle, according to the SCSO. 

This is an ongoing investigation, according to the SCSO.
