SHELBY COUNTY, Tenn. — On Thursday, the Shelby County Sheriff's Office (SCSO) announced the appointment of a new chief administrative officer.
A press release from the SCSO said Alicia Lindsey will be the first female African American chief administrative officer.
"This significant milestone marks a momentous achievement in promoting diversity and inclusivity within our agency," the SCSO said. "Alicia Lindsey brings with her a wealth of knowledge, experience, and dedication to excellence. Her innovative ideas and unwavering commitment to serving the community will undoubtedly greatly benefit our agency and the people we serve."
The SCSO said Lindsey will "play a vital role in leading our organization towards providing equal opportunities for individuals from all backgrounds."
"I am incredibly honored and humbled to be appointed as the first female African American Chief Administrative Officer at the Shelby County Sheriff's Office," said Alicia Lindsey. "I am committed to serving our community with the utmost dedication and ensuring that every individual is treated with respect and fairness."
The SCSO said they are inviting the public to join them in congratulating Alicia Lindsey on the historic appointment.
"We are confident that her dynamic leadership and unwavering commitment will positively impact the Shelby County Sheriff's Office and the community," they said.
