MEMPHIS, Tenn. — As ABC24 is seeking solutions for issues in our community, there is a new drug prevention effort underway by the Shelby County Health Department (SCHD).
The department has launched an online survey to gather information about drug use, overdoses, and services available to prevent harm within the community. The SCHD said the goal is to determine what barriers are in the way of people seeking out help, such as free naloxone kits, fentanyl test strips, and treatment programs.
The department said the survey will allow it to find the gaps in the available services to determine what is needed across the county.
“Data must drive the community’s response to the opioid overdose crisis,” said Health Department Director-Health Officer Dr. Michelle Taylor. “This online survey is just one aspect of the Health Department’s strategy to learn more about the perceptions and misapprehensions that may prevent substance users from seeking assistance.”
The survey is available at the following link: Shelby County Health Department Survey. It can also be completed in Spanish by clicking the language tab on the top right and selecting Spanish.
The SCHD said survey takes less than 20 minutes to complete, and by entering a name and email address, you can be entered into a raffle to receive a $25 gift card.
