The University of Memphis recruit will serve community service and go to therapy after shooting at a car leaving his house last March

SAN DIEGO — Former San Ysidro High star basketball player Mikey Williams pleaded guilty Thursday, November 30, over a March 27 shooting where he allegedly shot a  car full of people leaving his house.

According to the San Diego County District Attorney's Office, as part of his plea agreement, Williams, who played for San Ysidro High School and had signed to play at the University of Memphis, has agreed to attend behavioral therapy, gun safety, and anger management classes as well as complete 80 hours of community service.

In addition, Williams is banned from possessing any firearms. If and when all terms are satisfied, Williams's felony charges will be reduced to a misdemeanor.

According to the criminal complaint, Williams got into an argument just before midnight on March 27 and fired several gunshots at a car that was leaving his house in Jamul. The bullets hit the car, but nobody inside was injured, authorities said.

He was charged with five counts of assault with a weapon and one count of firing into an occupied vehicle. Those charges could have resulted in 28 years in prison if convicted on all counts.
