The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is looking into a deadly officer-involved shooting Thursday night in Raleigh.
The shooting happened on James Road near Homewood Drive, off Austin Peay Highway, just after 10:00 p.m. Officers say a man was standing in the street, pointing a gun at drivers passing by.
When officers arrived, the situation escalated, leading to shots being fired by officers at the suspect, hitting him. The suspect was taken to Regional One where he died.
It’s not known if the suspect shot at officers. The TBI identified him as 42-year-old Andre Horton. TBI investigators say Horton was armed with a BB gun.
The officer involved has been relieved of duty pending an investigation.
