On Sunday morning, special agents began looking into a shooting that a police officer with the Jackson Police Department had some part in, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI).
The investigation started at the request of District Attorney General Jody Pickens, according to the TBI.
The TBI said that near 3 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 11, there was a shots-fired call at a club in the area near Heritage Square that police responded to. Police officers said they heard additional gunshots when approaching the door to the business and then saw multiple people running out of the building.
A man identified later as Erick Radales Aguilera had a gun in his hand and was pursued by a security guard, according to the TBI. An officer fired at this man, striking and killing him, according to the TBI.
No officers were injured during the incident and the investigation remains active as well as ongoing, according to the TBI.
Three other people inside the club were found to have gunshot wounds and were transported to a local hospital to be treated for their injuries, according to the TBI.
