DYER COUNTY, Tenn. — According to the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT), a TDOT truck was hit on US 51 between Newbern and Dyersburg on Wednesday.
The employee involved was checked for any injuries, and officials do not believe the crash was life-threatening, according to TDOT spokesperson Nichole Lawrence.
Around 3:30 p.m., Lawrence said US 51 was closed between Newbern and Dyersburg due to the crash. Around 5 p.m., one southbound lane and both northbound lanes opened back up, according to Lawrence.
"This job is dangerous and we beg you to see us when we are out working in our office on the highway," Lawrence tweeted.
Avoid the area for now.
