Team applications now open for Memphis in May's 2025 'World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest'

The Memphis in May World Championship BBQ Cooking Contest will light up today in a new location from last year, Liberty Park.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Attention BBQ chefs! It's time to find your partners and sign up to compete in the 2025 World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest!

Memphis in May officials said the 47th WCBCC will be held May 14-17, 2025, at Liberty Park. 

With officials boasting that the event is the largest pork barbecue contest in the world, WCBCC possesses the championship categories of Whole Hog, Rib, Shoulder, and the entry-level Patio Porkers category, drawing cooks from across the nation and other countries.

Teams will compete for the World Championship barbecue crown, a cash prize purse totaling more than $170,000 in prize money and bragging rights as a ‘Top Gun’ of barbecue.

Teams must sign up by Feb. 21, 2025. The application and more information are available HERE

“We’re excited to be back at Liberty Park and we’re grateful for the outpouring of support for Memphis in May last year,” said Mack Weaver, President and CEO, in a press release. “We’ve been making barbecue in Memphis famous for 47 years and we’re positioned to make it 47 more!”
