WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. (localmemphis.com)- The search for a Missouri veteran’s missing dog continued in West Memphis, Arkansas on Sunday.
The owner, Jesse Askin, now believes someone has picked up his dog and kept him.
“Moose” the German Shepherd got away from Askin back on Saturday October 5th.
Jesse Askin and his family drove down to West Memphis from Missouri. They then stopped at the Flying J and Denny’s off Highway 55.That’s when Moose broke loose from his collar and ran across the 4-Lane Highway.
Askin says they were able to pick up on the dog’s trail, but ended up losing it.
Since Moose has now become well known, he isn’t ruling out the chance someone picked him up.
“I consider this dog a family member and it’s very sad that you would do this to somebody if this is the case,” said Askin. “If somebody has taken him in. You know we’ve offered a reward for the return and if you’ve heard of Moose being missing and the reward means nothing to you. You can’t hide him forever.”
Sunday, Askin and a dog trapper found places they think Moose has been, and laid out food for him.
Askin still says he will be back to West Memphis every weekend until he finds Moose.
