COVINGTON, Tenn. (localmemphis.com)- Two Tipton County corrections officers are facing charges after an investigation revealed they were involved in illegal drug activity.
According to a press release, 37-year-old Amanda Jones was arrested Friday. Investigators saw Jones getting narcotics during an illegal drug transaction.
Jones was off duty at the time of her arrest, and investigators say there wasn’t any evidence of her participating in drug activity while on the job.
She is currently in jail without bond pending further investigation.
The investigation also led to the arrest of 25-year-old Taras Baker. Baker was arrested for the possession of marijuana.
He was able to pay his $1,000 bond, and is due in court on August 30.
Both officers were terminated from their jobs immediately after their arrests.
