MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Another Tops Bar-B-Q location in Memphis has temporarily closed after a fire – the second in less than a month.
The Memphis Fire Department responded to the fire at the Tops location in the 3000 block of Thomas Street the morning of Thursday, Nov. 7, 2024. Tops officials said no one was injured.
The owners said the restaurant will remain closed until repairs can be made. They said they believe the fire was caused by mechanical issues.
“We appreciate the work by the Memphis Fire Department to extinguish the fire and our quick-thinking employees who reported the fire, which we believe was caused by mechanical issues,” said a statement from said Randy Hough, CEO of Tops Bar-B-Q. “We are working to determine the extent of the damage and a plan for repairs and reopening. We would love to see our customers at any of our other 16 locations, including the Tops at 2288 Frayser Boulevard in the same part of town as the Thomas Street location.”
This is the second Tops Bar-B-Q forced to close due to fire in less than a month. Tops officials said a fire happened at the location on Summer Ave. at National St. early Thursday morning, Oct. 17, 2024. They said no one was hurt, and the fire was also believed to have been caused by mechanical issues. They said they are working to make repairs there as well.
