TUNICA COUNTY, Miss — A Tunica County man is in custody after threatening to conduct an active shooting Wednesday morning, deputies said.
The Tunica County Sheriff’s Office said on Jan. 3 that 52-year-old Tyrone Scott contacted the V.A. Crisis Line and called its office on 911, making threats to conduct an active shooting somewhere.
They said he was caught around 11:15 a.m. Wednesday in the area of MS Highway 3 and Bob Crenshaw Road with assistance from Mississippi Highway Patrol.
Scott is a military veteran and was involved in a domestic disturbance on Tuesday, Jan. 2, when he cut his girlfriend on the hand with a knife and left the scene, according to authorities.
He will be facing charges of making of terroristic threats. Scott is also being charged with domestic violence – simple assault – for the incident on Jan. 2.
The Tunica County Sheriff’s Office said they will work with Veterans Affairs Counselors to obtain information available to the services offered that may be provided to Tyrone Scott.
