Memphis Police and DA's Office join forces to educate community on voting registration and expungement

The Memphis Police Department and the District Attorney's office teamed up to educate the community on the voting process and expungement of criminal records.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — During their 'Faith in Blue' week, the Memphis Police partnered with the Shelby County District Attorney's Office to educate community members about the election process and to help individuals expunge records for felony and misdemeanor offenses.

Although the voter registration deadline has passed in Tennessee, early voting is just a week away, and many people are preparing to cast their ballots.

Over 100 individuals engaged with various organizations, including the Shelby County DA Office and the Shelby County Voter Alliance, and had conversations with MPD officers to understand the process of expunging felonies and misdemeanor charges.

The officers mentioned that this event provided an opportunity for people to learn more about the voting process.

It's important to note that the registration discussed in the event is not for the upcoming general election, but for future elections.
