SHELBY COUNTY, Tenn. — On Monday, Shelby County commissioners announced they are seeking updates on the investigation into Wanda Halbert.
On June 29, the D.A. ordered Coty Wamp, District Attorney General for the 11th Judicial District in Hamilton County, Tennessee, to investigate complaints against Halbert and look into her possible removal.
In the proposed add-on resolution, the commissioners requested Wamp to "provide a status update regarding her investigation of the disruptions in services, breach of fiscal responsibilities, and failure to duties as required by law by the county clerk, and whether or not she has determined it necessary to pursue ouster proceedings on behalf of the citizens of Shelby County."
Halbert has faced criticism in the past, her most recent controversy concerning her Poplar Plaza office closing abruptly due to late rent payments.
On Monday night, county commissioners voted unanimously in favor of the resolution.
